Village campaign to save chapel

People living in a Gloucestershire village have started a campaign to save their local chapel.

The Rodborough Tabernacle's roof is in a poor state and villagers say it will cost thousands of pounds to repair.

The building was converted from a stable and coach house in 1925 and decorated in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Most of the fixtures and fittings are still inside the chapel but could be at risk if the roof is not fixed.

The chapel, in Rodborough near Stroud, was converted by Sidney Barnsley and stained glass was added in 1936 and 1947 by Henry and Edward Payne.

The building is also used by the community for play groups and scouts and guides meetings.
