Thieves target rural properties

Farmers and rural residents have been targeted in a series of thefts in South Gloucestershire.

Thieves have struck at rural homes, farms and plant nurseries in Tytherington, Thornbury, Wickwar, Badminton and Alveston.

Items stolen by thieves include quad bikes, ride-on mowers, a chain saw and plants from the properties.

Neighbourhood Sgt Adrian Fallows said nine thefts from rural properties had been reported in the past three weeks.

"Levels of this sort of crime for our neighbourhood area are usually very low, but I would urge people to take extra security precautions," he added.
