Carer is spared prison sentence

Shirley Watts

A carer has been spared a jail sentence after admitting threatening to kill her arthritic husband.

Shirley Watts, 61, from Cheltenham, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of threatening to kill Michael Watts between 26 and 28 December 2007.

Ms Watts was sentenced to a two-year supervision order when she appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Monday.

The court also ordered Ms Watts, of Croft Street, Leckhampton, to do 100 hours of unpaid work.

She had previously denied a charge of attempted murder when she appeared before the same court in March.
