Fire breaks out at business park

Fire engines at the Waterwells business park Access has reopened to a Gloucester business park which was closed after a fire at a warehouse.

Roads to the Waterwells business park in Quedgeley were shut and junction 12 of the M5 was closed after the blaze broke out on Thursday evening.

Only key workers from the emergency services control centre based at the site were allowed access.

Residents were still being advised on Friday morning to keep their windows and doors shut against residual smoke.

No danger

Air quality samples were taken after fears of toxic fumes from smouldering plastic in the building.

But the Health Protection Agency said there was no danger to public health.

Only a small section of the business park is sealed off and the park-and-ride service which was suspended has resumed.

Firefighters said it was not immediately clear what started the blaze.
