More children's centres to open

Five sites have been chosen for new children's centres across the county of Gloucestershire.

They are all within libraries and will provide information and services for young families.

The sites are in Quedgeley, Nailsworth, Up Hatherley, Bishops Cleeve and Mitcheldean.

The new centres are due to open in March 2008. Refurbishment work will begin in September starting with Nailsworth Library.

Although there will be no direct childcare available on site, it will be easier for families to receive information, advice and support services in their local area, said a spokesman for Gloucestershire County Council.

There are already 14 children's centres in Gloucestershire and a further 17 will be open by March next year including the new five.
