Cyclist dies after car collision

A 50-year-old cyclist from Fairford has died following a collision with a car on a Gloucestershire road.

The accident happened on the A417 near Ampney Crucis on Wednesday morning close to the turning for Driffield.

The rider was taken to Gloucestershire Royal hospital by air ambulance but he died later.

Anyone who witnessed the collision between the blue Renault Clio and the bike at 0910 BST on Wednesday is asked to contact police.

The driver of the Renault, a 37-year-old woman from Kempsford, was uninjured in the collision.

The A417 was closed in the vicinity of the crash scene for four hours to allow the accident to be investigated
