Town's lido reopens after refit

A historic open-air swimming pool in Cheltenham is to reopen after a £700,000 facelift.

The heated Lido in Sandford Parks has been closed since September 2006 for refurbishment work.

The 50m pool, which holds 500,000 gallons (2273L) of water, has been returned to its 1930s appearance.

The work was scheduled for completion in May but vandalism, structural damage and the water shortage due to the recent floods delayed the opening.
