Children's art is judged by mayor

Mayor Jacky Fletcher and winners of the art competition Judging takes place on Monday of works of art created by children and young people from the St Paul's Youth Forum and Junior Wardens in Cheltenham.

The groups entered the town's annual art Bloomin' Wild competition.

Councillor Jacky Fletcher, the mayor, and the Cheltenham in Bloom (CiB) committee then put the selected pieces on display in the council chamber.

Mediums used range from fresh flowers, bubbles, tie dye, collage, drawing salt pictures, painting and printing.

Meet the mayor

Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) also held an arts afternoon at the St Paul's Community House on 11 April to enable younger children to enter the competition.

Vicki Paxford, community involvement manager for CBH, said: "The children and young people have really enjoyed making their pictures and being part of the competition, and are looking forward to meeting the mayor."

Cindy Lewis, from the CiB committee, said: "We welcome the opportunity to work with children and young people and to display their work whilst improving their understanding of the importance of nature and biodiversity."
