Archers role for charity bidder

Trevor Harrison (Eddie Grundy), Christine Hunt and Terry Wogan A fan of The Archers who paid £17,000 to charity to feature on the BBC Radio 4 soap will be heard by millions of listeners this week.

Christine Hunt, 56, from Ashleworth in Gloucestershire, will appear in a special edition of the show.

Her husband David bid for the chance when it was offered as a prize in last November's Children in Need appeal.

Presenter Terry Wogan will also appear as himself in the show, being broadcast on Tuesday's Radio 2 breakfast show.

"I had no idea how much effort and hard work went into making just one episode of The Archers," said Mrs Hunt.

"It's fantastic to get the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes after six years of listening."

Wogan has made several cameos in the fictional village of Ambridge before. On this occasion the script has his car breaking down while on holiday.

"It's great to be back in Ambridge again and to see so many familiar faces, after so many years away," said the radio and TV veteran.
