Seven care home staff suspended

Seven members of staff at an Essex home for elderly people with dementia have been suspended over allegations of poor care, verbal abuse and assault.

Inquiries are under way into the Humfrey Lodge care home in Thaxted.

Essex County Council say 13 allegations have been made and the inquiry began when a staff member at the home was accused of assault.

The spokesman said: "Local teams are working to ensure the quality of care is maintained for residents."
