A 41-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found in Essex.

The 50-year-old woman was discovered at a property in Pitfield, Chelmsford, on Friday morning.

Marc Chivers, of Pitfield, was arrested and later charged with the woman's murder. A post-mortem exam revealed the cause of death was asphyxiation.

Essex Police said Mr Chivers would appear before magistrates in Chelmsford on Monday.
