Detention for fatal crash youth

A teenager who was in a stolen car which crashed leaving one 16-year-old passenger dead has been given an eight-month detention training order.

Jay Tamer, from Ladbroke Grove, London, died in the accident near Harlow, Essex, on 5 April.

At Harlow Youth Court a youth, 17, was sentenced after admitting being a passenger in a stolen car.

Another boy, aged 16, was earlier given a eight-month drug treatment programme for aggravated vehicle taking.

His case had been heard at Basildon Youth Court in May.

Both boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were also disqualified from driving for two years.

The car, a Vauxhall Signum, had been stolen from Twickenham, south-west London, on 4 April.
