Man hit by a car dies in hospital

A 58-year-old man has died in hospital after suffering serious injuries when he was hit by a car in Essex.

The pedestrian was struck by an Audi 3 car at the junction of Wash Road and Woodlands Avenue in Hutton, north of Brentwood, on 20 April.

He was taken to Basildon University Hospital where he died on Monday. His identity will be released later, an Essex Police spokesman said.

A 27-year-old woman from Billericay driving the Audi car was not injured.

The road was closed for three hours for an investigation into the accident and police have appealed for witnesses.
