Man remanded over crossing death

Hythe Station Road level crossing

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the manslaughter of his partner.

Kelly Mack, 29, of Clacton, died when she was hit by a train at a level crossing at Hythe Station Road in Colchester, Essex, on 27 March.

It had been thought Ms Mack's boot had become wedged in wooden slats as she tried to cross the track.

Darren Palmer, 38, who was remanded by Colchester magistrates, will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 23 June.
