Man charged over 1990 rape case

A man has been charged with the rape of a woman 17 years ago, police in Essex have said.

Alan Morton, 55, of Harlow, Essex, was arrested following a cold case review by Essex Police.

The woman was attacked in Rye Hill Road, Harlow on 7 September, 1990, the force said.

Mr Morton, who is currently in police custody, is due to appear before Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.
