Biker dies in country road crash

A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his 19-year-old pillion passenger suffered serious leg injuries in a crash in south Essex.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a motorcycle left the road and hit an outhouse.

The motorcyclist was certified dead at the accident scene at the junction of Gore Road, Creaksea Ferry Road and Paglesham Road in Ballards Gore.

The pillion was taken to Southend General Hospital is said to be stable.

Scene investigation

The man who died was from Hockley and the pillion passenger is from Wallasey Island.

The road was closed for five hours while emergency services dealt with the casualties, cleared debris and carried out an investigation at the scene.

Pc Jason Bullock said: "At this stage we do not know what caused the motorcycle to leave the road.

"We are appealing to any motorists who may have been on the road between 0100 and 0130 BST on Sunday morning and may have seen the motorcycle or the accident to contact police."
