Military bunker goes up for sale

Tendring Green look out post bunker A military look-out post with its own bomb-proof bunker has gone on the market for £50,000 in a coastal area where housing is in short supply.

The sale is by private tender which means anyone interested has to pay £5 to put in a sealed bid to the Ipswich-based agents.

But there is no certainty future owners will be able to live in the underground structure at Tendring Green in Essex.

The bunker would need registration of a change of use and planning permission.

Polly Glover, from the agents Robinson and Hall who are organising the sale, said the successful bidder may have to investigate if they could live there.

"It is subject to planning permissions but it is outside the local structure plan and may well have constraints."

The mainly underground building comes with 0.8 acres of land but the agents cannot guess how many people would be interested.
