Thousands of people are on their way to the 20th Southend Air Show which starts on Sunday.
Among the stars is an RAF Typhoon flown by Flight Lieutenant Tony Parkinson who says it will reach 300mph and carry out a number of exciting manoeuvres.
The event is the largest free air show in Europe and this year features three generations of one family taking part in a daring "wing walk".
A Colchester-born pilot will be leading the RAF's Red Arrows.
Dicky Patounas is celebrating his first year as the team leader and says it is great to be in charge, having been with the squadron since 1997.
The flight will carry out programmes of aerobatics on both days of the show.
