CCTV clue in fancy dress attack

CCTV footage has been released of a woman walking with a man who police believe later sexually assaulted her.

The victim, aged 26, was dressed in a nurse's fancy dress outfit and was walking home from a party before she was attacked in Bournemouth Gardens.

She was sexually assaulted and punched in the face and head in the early hours of Sunday. She was treated at Poole Hospital and released later that day.

Officers are trying to trace a man seen in CCTV footage with the woman.

He is described as being of Asian appearance, aged 30 to 35-years-old, of medium build with short dark-coloured hair.

Urging witnesses to come forward police said at the time of the attack she was wearing a nurse's blue and white fancy dress outfit with a white nurse's hat.

Det Insp Craig Travers, of Dorset Police, said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack which has left the victim injured and shocked and I'd urge anyone else who has any other information about this incident, or about the man responsible, to call the police immediately.

"If anyone saw her walking through [the] square, I need them to get in touch."
