Flood victims share experiences

Cars navigate a flooded road

Bournemouth residents affected by the severe flooding last December will share their experiences at a meeting on managing and preparing for bad weather.

Torrential rain caused flash flooding throughout Dorset, submerging roads and trapping people in their homes.

Hannah Hinchliffe became one of the casualties of the adverse weather conditions when her car crashed on the A35 near Poole on Saturday 13 December.

The meeting will be held at Bournemouth Borough Council chambers at 1830 GMT.

Representatives from the Environment Agency, Wessex Water and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service will attend the talks, along with council officers, to advise on how to deal with similar events in the future, the local authority said.

Councillor Robert Lawton, Bournemouth's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "We are taking this issue very seriously and will consider the discussions following this meeting in conjunction with the recommendations for managing flooding problems provided by the government."
