Dead couple suffered head wounds

Police cordon at bungalow

An elderly couple found dead at a bungalow had both been struck repeatedly over the head with a blunt object, post-mortem tests have shown.

Officers found the bodies of a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s in the property in Uplands Road, Charminster, Bournemouth, Dorset, on Friday night.

The examination also showed the man had suffered chest injuries.

A woman, 52, who was found injured, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in hospital.

A police spokesman said her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

She remains under police guard at Odstock Hospital in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

"Dorset Police awaits medical advice as to when she will be fit and well enough to be brought into police custody," he added.

A spokeswoman said officers visited the premises following calls from concerned friends and neighbours.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
