A dog has been rescued after it chased a rabbit and became stuck down a quarry in Dorset.
Riley the dog became tangled in brambles and bushes about 15ft (4.6m) down the quarry.
Specialist firefighters and coastguards managed to free the dog by cutting away the debris at the site in Portland on Wednesday evening.
Riley, who was not injured in the ordeal, was freed and later reunited with his owner.
The collie-cross had a "lucky escape", a coastguard spokeswoman said.
She added: "It was pitch black and our teams had to lower themselves over the edge of the quarry to locate the dog.
"In these cases we go to the assistance to stop the owners trying to rescue the dog and putting themselves in danger.
"It was quite thick undergrowth and took a while to cut Riley free but he had a lucky escape as he could have fallen further down."
