Residents evacuated from about 140 properties in Dorset due to a serious gas leak have been allowed home.
A high pressure gas main in Wingreen Close, Weymouth, was damaged by workers on Tuesday - causing it to burst.
Police said the leak was finally isolated at 0030 GMT, but Southern Gas Networks still had staff on site on Wednesday morning.
Everyone except the residents of two properties have since been allowed home, they said.
A 200m (657ft) exclusion zone initially put in place was later reduced to 40m (130ft) and Preston Road was reopened.
Up to six elderly people who had difficulty walking were helped to a nearby village hall.
