Firework sparks fire near airport

A stray firework from a private display is believed to have set alight 200 hay bales on farmland near Bournemouth Airport in Dorset.

Plumes of black smoke were seen billowing into the sky at the farm in Hurn Court Lane on Sunday.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and extinguished it without affecting flights.

It is believed the firework accidentally landed in the field. Police said they were investigating.
