Woman sparks land and sea search

Julianna Gregory

A land and sea search has been launched by police to find a "vulnerable" missing woman in Dorset.

Julianna Gregory, 65, was reported missing from her Lyme Regis home on Tuesday morning by her husband.

Officers, the police helicopter, coastguards and the RNLI have been conducting extensive searches of the area on Wednesday.

Mrs Gregory left on foot without money or her medication. Police said her disappearance is "out of character".

Left note

Posters displaying Mrs Gregory's photograph have been put up while police have made house-house inquiries, contacted local hospitals and taxi and bus firms.

The force's helicopter has made a visual and thermal search of coastal roads and the wider area around Lyme Regis.

Mrs Gregory left home on foot without taking any money, her bag, her purse, her medication or her mobile phone.

The first that Mr Gregory knew what his wife had gone missing was when he got up and found a note saying that she had gone out.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We and the woman's family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare because this disappearance is totally out of character and the fact that she left home without taking her medication."
