Jaw broken in late night attack

A man was attacked and had his jaw broken as he walked with a friend through a Dorset town.

The 21-year-old victim from Bristol had been walking in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, with a friend when a group started to verbally abuse them.

At about 0130 BST on Wednesday, one of the group then approached the victim and punched him, fracturing his jaw which later required surgery.

The male attacker was described as about 5ft 10in with short blonde hair.

Pc Sara McKenzie, of Dorset Police, said: "The group consisted of about five men and three women all aged about 18 or 19. All of them were smartly dressed."

Witnesses have been urged to contact police.
