Cyclist hurt in road rage attack

A cyclist was knocked off his bike and then assaulted in a suspected road rage attack in Dorset.

The 41-year-old victim, from Christchurch, was hit by a white van in the town's Albion Road at about 1915 BST on Saturday.

He was then attacked by the van driver sustaining minor injuries.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries. Police have urged any witnesses to contact them.

In particular, they would like to speak to a female pedestrian and a driver of a new black-coloured car seen in the area at the time.

Pc Ross Graham, of Dorset Police, said: "Fortunately the victim only sustained minor injuries but it could have been far worse."
