Prince empties Asda booze shelf

Prince William Prince William cleared a Dorset supermarket out of Pimm's during a visit to stock up for an army party.

The prince, wearing a T-shirt, baseball cap and jeans, spent £850 on alcohol during a trip to Asda in Weymouth on Wednesday, the store manager said.

William, an officer in the Blues and Royals who is training at nearby Bovington Camp, filled four trolleys with wines, spirits, beer and snacks.

The 24-year-old was accompanied by bodyguards and some army colleagues.

Darren Rideout, the store manager, said: "He came in the store at 1410 BST with two bodyguards.

"He had four trolley loads of shopping which was mainly alcohol and snacks. He cleared us out of Pimm's.

"A few people came up and spoke to him and he was laughing and joking with them.

"The check-out girl didn't actually recognise him and he packed his own shopping."
