A hoax 999 call which could have put lives in danger in Cornwall in the early hours is being investigated.
Cornwall Fire Brigade received a call from a woman about 0100 BST reporting a house fire in Bodmin with two people possibly trapped inside.
Two appliances were mobilised, but when crews arrived there was no fire.
Crews said while they were attending this malicious call, they were not available to attend any other genuine emergencies.
The hoax call was made from a public pay phone on Higher Bore Street in Bodmin and police have appealed for witnesses who may have seen a woman, possibly with a man, near the telephone.
