Motorist killed in road accident

A woman has died in a crash on the A386 in Devon.

Emergency services were called to the accident between Bassets Cross and Lamerton Cross, near Hatherleigh, at about 0730 GMT.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said only one vehicle was involved in the crash. The identity of the dead woman has not yet been released.

The road was closed in both directions while an investigation was carried out but has since reopened.
