A man has been killed when the van he was driving hit a lorry in Okehampton, Devon.
The van was travelling along the A30 on Monday night when it struck the lorry which was stationary, said a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson.
The driver of the van, thought to be from the area and in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry driver, from Bridgwater, Somerset, sustained minor injuries and was arrested following the accident.
The 57-year-old was held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed until 5 February.
The carriageway was closed for more than seven hours following the accident, which happened at about 2230 GMT.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash between the white Mercedes van and the 26-ton goods vehicle which was stationary in lane one of the eastbound carriageway, to contact them.
