A 25-year-old amateur football player from Devon has died during his stag weekend in Spain, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

Construction worker Tony Kyle is understood to have fallen from a balcony at his hotel in Lloret de Mar on Saturday.

Mr Kyle, from the Exwick area of Exeter, was due to marry his fiancee, Emma, in February.

He played for the Exeter-based non-league Heavitree Social United side.

'Fun-loving'

The club cancelled a home cup tie due to be played on Saturday as a mark of respect.

Club spokesman Shawn King said he could not comment about what happened in Spain.

Mr Kyle was well-known in amateur soccer circles around Exeter, and had played for a number of other clubs.

Paul White, secretary and former coach of Broadclyst Social Club, for whom Mr Kyle played for four years, said: "He was a nice chap, very humorous and fun-loving. It is such a waste of life."
