Trust's fear over coastal erosion

Hundreds of miles of the South West coastline could crumble into the sea over the next few decades, a report has warned.

The National Trust has been identifying the areas most at risk from increased erosion and coastal flooding.

In its Shifting Shores report, updated from 2005, it identified 174 miles (280km) of threatened coastline.

It includes South Milton Sands and Godrevy in Devon and St Michael's Mount and Cotehele Quay in Cornwall.

The National Trust, which owns about 35% of the coastline, said it was working with other agencies to find a way to deal with the problem in the long term.
