Man, 65, seriously hurt in attack

An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital after an assault in Devon.

The 65-year-old man, who has not been named, was found unconscious with serious head injuries at about 1705 BST on Friday in Lynmouth Street, Lynmouth.

He was airlifted by police helicopter to North Devon District Hospital, where he is said to be in a critical condition.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
