Worker killed in digger accident

A 76-year-old man has died after being hit by a mechanical digger at a mid-Devon farm.

The man died early on Thursday evening after the incident at a farm in the Bickleigh area of Tiverton.

The man had been working at the farm when he was struck and despite efforts to resuscitate him he was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation will start on Friday by the Health and Safety Executive into the incident.
