Man arrested over woman's death

A man has been arrested following the death of a woman pedestrian who was hit by a car in the early hours.

Police said the incident, involving a red Rover car, happened near the Clinton Arms pub in Littleham, Exmouth, Devon, at about 0050 BST.

The woman has been named as 43-year-old Susan Dare, a mother-of-five who lives and works in Exmouth.

A 53-year-old local man is being questioned about the incident. Police have appealed for witnesses.
