Temperatures soared as teams of young people crossed the finish line at the end of this year's Ten Tors Challenge on Dartmoor.
The sunny conditions meant that groups faced heat of up to 27 degrees C (77 Fahrenheit) as they trekked through terrain offering little natural cover.
About 2,400 entrants took part in the two-day event in Devon, walking 35, 45 or 55 miles between 10 chosen tors.
A small number had to drop out, some with heat-related conditions.

Organisers said it was hotter than most participants had trained for.
Brigadier Jolyon Jackson from 43 (Wessex) Brigade said: "We put extra water out on top of the tors and teams were told to stop in the streams and roll in them if they could and keep cool.
"Last year too much water, this year not enough, typical!"
The 2007 Ten Tors challenge had to be abandoned and Dartmoor evacuated, because of heavy rain.
As well as this year's Ten Tors event, 300 competitors took part in the Jubilee Challenge, for young people with special physical or educational needs.
They covered distances ranging between 7.5 and 15 miles.
