Cash dash by Dartmoor 'convicts'

Fundraising "convicts"

A mass breakout from Dartmoor jail is set to boost the coffers of charities in the South West.

The annual charity jailbreak will see teams pretending to escape from the prison in Princetown.

While on the run the escaped "convicts" cannot pay for transport and must keep within the law.

So far, the furthest distance travelled is New Zealand and the shortest a pub in Princetown. Exeter's Vranch House School is the event's parent charity.

Royal flight

BBC Devon sports presenter Gordon Sparks will be attempting to travel to Brunei, South East Asia.

Travelling by bus, helicopter and a Royal Brunei aircraft, his team of escapees, which includes Salvatore Natale, Joseph Louei and Brian Cross hopes to make it there and back in five days.

Other charities to benefit from the jailbreak will be Derriford Hospital's Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer, St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth and the Mustard Tree MacMillan Support Centre.

Last year more than £15,000 was raised.
