Special week in Christie's honour

Agatha Christie The hometown of renowned crime writer Agatha Christie is holding a special week of events in her honour.

Dame Agatha was born in Torquay in 1890 and spent much of her life in the Devon seaside town.

Performances of her play The Unexpected Guest will be staged by the Agatha Christie Theatre Company at the town's Princess Theatre.

A murder mystery ball will also be held at the Grand Hotel where the author spent her honeymoon.

The events are being held to mark the 70th anniversary of the publication of Death on the Nile.

An outdoor screening of the film, starring Peter Ustinov, will take place at Oldway Mansion in nearby Paignton.

It is the third time Agatha Christie Week has been held in the town and events will also include talks by crime writers, and creative writing workshops.
