Firefighters tackle thatch fire

About 80 firefighters from across Devon were called to tackle a thatch fire at a house in the north of the county.

Twelve appliances were called to the blaze at the farmhouse at Ashreigney near Chumleigh on Tuesday evening just before 1900 GMT.

A spokeswoman from Devon Fire and Rescue said firefighters had spent much of the night damping down.

Investigations will be continuing on Wednesday to try to establish exactly how the fire started.
