Negotiators end street stand off

A man is being questioned following a three-hour stand off with police in Derby.

Officers received a call shortly after 0630 BST reporting a man in a property on Bridge Street was threatening to harm his girlfriend.

Police found the man alone but he also threatened to harm himself.

Negotiators were called to the scene and a 26-year-old man gave himself up just before 0940 BST, when he was taken to St Mary's Wharf police station.

Bridge Street was closed during the incident, affecting part of the nearby A52 during rush hour.
