Repainting work closes Snake Pass

A main road in the Derbyshire Peak District is to close while road markings and lines are repainted, the county council has said.

The work will be carried out along the A57 Snake Pass from the junction at Hurst Road in Glossop to the A6013 Ashopton viaduct junction.

Drivers have been asked to find alternative routes.

The £100,000 project is due to start on 13 July and will take three days to complete, the council said.

Councillor Chris Jackson, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "We're committed to improving roads, particularly in rural areas and we would ask motorists to bear with us while this essential work is carried out."
