School offers GCSE in BMX riding

A Derby school has announced that it will offer cycling as part of a GCSE next term.

Sinfin Community School will now include mountain biking, 'cyclo-cross' and BMX riding as part of its PE GCSE from September.

The school already offers cycling on its curriculum, which is being rolled out to all Derby secondary schools from next term.

Practical assessment makes up 60% of the examination.

The school also has its own 'cyclo-cross' track. The sport involves riders racing on a cross country track.
