Fire crews tackle factory blaze

Long Eaton fire

Dozens of firefighters have dealt with a blaze at a derelict factory in a Derbyshire town.

Crews from the county and Nottinghamshire were called to Bennett Street, Long Eaton on Wednesday morning when the building was well alight.

About 50 emergency personnel were involved and the fire was brought under control just before 0600 BST.

There were no reports of any injuries and investigations into the cause will begin shortly.

The roof is made of asbestos, which meant two crew members had to be decontaminated.

Early inspections indicated the building would have to be demolished.
