Mother campaigns for more CCTV

A woman whose son was beaten to death with a baseball bat is demanding more CCTV coverage in Derby.

Melvyn Hadley, 20, died in July 2007. His mother Tanya Higgins has got more than 2,000 signatures calling for cameras to be put in the area he died.

Derby City Council has now promised to consider the petition's request.

Jatinder Dosangh, from Derby, was jailed for nine years in July 2008 after admitting his manslaughter at Derby Crown Court.

Ms Higgins said: "He'd already got into a fight with this Jatinder in the first place and I believe that if CCTV cameras had been up, his death could've been prevented because somebody could have stopped it at the first fight."
