Investment in new buses announced

A total of £6m is being spent on new buses in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, to encourage more people to use public transport.

Trent Barton buses said it wanted to continue investing in its fleet, despite the economic downturn.

The money will buy 43 buses, running on five routes.

The new fleet of vehicles should all be on the road by July, and Trent Barton said the routes and timetables would remain the same.

People using the number 15 Mickleover service or between Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Sawley will see new buses by March.

The changes will be implemented on the number 9 route between Sutton-in-Ashfield to Alfreton and Derby in May.

Finally, the Rainbow 2 service between Ilkeston and Nottingham will benefit by July.
