Pub landlord attacked by five men

A Derbyshire landlord has been assaulted in a gang raid on his pub.

Five men armed with golf clubs and a sledgehammer entered the Spinners Arms, Marsden Street, Hadfield, in the early hours of Monday, police said.

The gang punched the landlord before stealing jewellery and a laptop, then smashing open gaming machines, a cigarette machine and the pub's tills.

The raiders were all white men wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, about 6ft (1.83m) tall with Manchester accents.

Det Sgt Phil Bateman from Derbyshire Police said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for a young family, who were very distressed by the incident.

"We would appeal for any witnesses, or anyone who has information about the burglary, to come forward."
