Funeral of 'death fall' student

Shaun Dykes

The funeral of a teenager who was goaded before he jumped from a car park has taken place in his home village.

Shaun Dykes, 17, fell to his death two weeks ago despite attempts by police negotiators to assist him.

Bystanders who took photos at the Westfield car park on 27 September have been criticised by Derbyshire police.

Friends and teachers from Heanor Gate Science College attended his funeral at the Baptist Chapel in Kilburn on Monday afternoon.

Derbyshire Chief Constable Mick Creedon condemned the people who taunted the teenager as "totally abhorrent".

Shaun's family requested that the funeral remain private.
