Burglar absconds from open prison

HMP Sudbury

A convicted burglar has absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire during temporary release.

Kevin Gamble, 49, failed to return to HMP Sudbury on Saturday, Derbyshire Police said.

Gamble was sentenced to eight years in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court in March 2007 for burglary.

His last known address is in Kirkby-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire. He is 5ft 9in (1.8m) tall, of thin build with short hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Gamble's whereabouts is asked to contact police.

More than 660 inmates have walked out of HMP Sudbury in the past 10 years.
