A small army of volunteers are helping tidy up the paddock of a water buffalo who had been harassed in Derbyshire.
Oink, a rescued buffalo, had bricks thrown at him, his hay set on fire and washing-up liquid put in his water by local bullies.
A local resident donated a CCTV system to keep an eye on Oink in Darley Abbey village and deter any other attacks.
His owner Katherine Moor said the people cleaning the paddock this weekend were incredibly supportive.
"I think they were really distraught and upset by the terrible things that happened to him and this is their way of trying to be involved and feel that they are helping him," she said.
The international animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has already offered a £1,000 reward to find the attackers.
The penalty for causing unnecessary suffering to animals is a maximum six-month prison sentence.
